Brenda L. Thomas

Brenda L. Thomas, a proud Philadelphia native, isn’t one to shy away from giving her opinion. In 2001, she self-published her much-anticipated Essence bestselling novel, Threesome, where seduction, power, and basketball collided, and subsequently signed with Simon and Schuster, where she penned Fourplay, The Velvet Rope, and Every Woman’s Got a Secret, along with several anthologies.

In 2007, Thomas departed from fiction and ventured into the complex reality of her past with a profoundly moving depiction of her 15-year struggle with domestic violence and drug addiction when she released her memoir, Laying Down My Burdens.

Now, Brenda is back with her 11th novel, the spell-bounding novel, Kaleidoscope. When Isabella Washington discovers her estranged husband murdered and her ex-lover shot at her home in Costa Rica, she finds herself entangled in a mystery that leaves her with more questions than answers. Caught in a world of government informants and jealous lovers, Isabella becomes a woman in a desperate search for the truth.

Meanwhile, recently widowed after her husband died of a heart attack, Sasha Borianni is now the sole owner of The Lodge at Sugar Hill, the only African American five-star ski resort in Park City, Utah. Attempting to navigate this new chapter of her life, she takes a much-needed vacation to Costa Rica to clear her mind and heart. When details of her husband’s life begin to emerge, portraying a drastically different portrait of the man she knew, Sasha has reason to believe his death may not have been the result of a heart attack after all.

Thrown into an endless cycle of betrayal, these two women, desperate for the truth, find themselves unwillingly connected. Their first obstacle? Mending their tumultuous relationship to uncover the truth they both seek.
